Blogmas Day 18 | 5 games to play at Christmas

Christmas is centred around family and friends coming together, time to spend with loved ones and a chance to unwind and enjoy yourself!

If you have a houseful to entertain this Christmas, why not get clued up on a selection of family games.

Here are 5 games/activities to keep everyone happy….

Hope you like it, don’t forget to like and comment if you do 💕

5 games to play at Christmas…

1. Charades

A classic! But let’s change it up a little. With it being Christmas, charade all things Christmas. Christmas songs, films, characters etc. Put on your creative acting hats and see who’s the ultimate Christmas fan!

Here’s a short list of common Christmas songs which you can use:

  • Silent Night
  • Jingle Bells
  • We Wish you a Merry Christmas
  • Santa Claus is coming to town
  • Winter Wonderland
  • Let It Snow
  • The Little Drummer Boy
  • Little Donkey
  • White Christmas

2. Pictionary

Here’s another team game to get the entire family involved. Very much like the one above, try a Christmas version and test your family’s Christmas knowledge. Draw your way to victory, choosing your favourite things about Christmas time and turn them into picture form. You could just use the same playing cards from the Charades game, link is above.

In two teams, pick at random a Christmas themed Pictionary item/topic and put your art skills to the test. First team to guess correctly earns a point for their team. Pencils at the ready…..

Why not spice up the competition with a prize reward to the winning team!

3. Mr and Mrs

This game could be dangerous…. Only kidding! Get into pairs/couples and test each other’s knowledge. Who knows you best, who do you know best…? Get the entire family to play and test how strong you are in pairs.

Get your thinking hats on and be prepared for some disagreements and harsh truths. I mean….. have fun and enjoy!

4. White Elephant Gift Exchange Game

I love the idea of this one!

Ideally for 6 or more players and it may take a little preparation before hand (days before hand)

Similar to secret Santa… everyone needs to bring 1 present to the game. Bring presents which can be suitable for anyone in the game. This could be quirky, funny or just cute. No need to go overboard and spend a fortune, it’s just a game!

The first player is assigned no.1 and they pick any present and open it. The next player is assigned no.2 and they can either choose to steal the first no.1 players opened present, or pick and open a new present from the pile. This continues until all presents have been opened, resulting in the end of the gift exchange and everyone is left with 1 present.

Get ‘stealing’ and keep hold of your favourite present till the end.

5. Christmas Jigsaw Puzzle

This isn’t so much a game, however it’s fun none the less… I’m on the hunt for my jigsaw puzzle tomorrow.

On your errands for Christmas shopping, pick up the biggest Christmas jigsaw puzzle you can get your hands on.

Whether you’re waiting for a few members of the family to arrive or you have an hour or so to quietly chill after everyone has stuffed themselves full of Christmas dinner, chocolate, sweets and much more. Or if you’re simply just into puzzles, then a large Christmas jigsaw will be thoroughly enjoyed with hours of use to last the entire Christmas period.
